Michael Bay Says No to Transformers 2
August 21, 2007

Recently Paramount/DreamWorks’ made the decision to become exclusive to HD DVD instead of releasing movies on both Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD, and now Michael Bay has responded:

“I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!”

Will this change Paramount/DreamWorks’ mind about at least releasing Transformers also on Blu-ray Disc? We’re not sure, but we have a feeling Mr. Bay isn’t the only unhappy one. Yesterday’s press release itself concluded with a note that read, “Today’s announcement does not include films directed by Steven Spielberg as his films are not exclusive to either format.” Transformers will also be available on standard definition DVD when released.

And as we all know even though the cast (including Ms. Fox) is signed on for additional Transformers sequels, and given the amazing box office statistics it’s almost a given a sequel or two will happen eventually, with or without Michael Bay. Michael Bay has already stated he wouldn’t do a sequel unless there was a story to tell.

I highly doubt Michael Bay will go through with not directing Transformers 2. He’s gotten so much money from the first one, why would he risk a money-making opportunity like this? Oh well, as long as Megan is still in Transformers 2, then I’ll be happy :)
